Chandler-Gilbert Community College used a decisive seven-run second inning to pull away from Trinidad State College and cruise to a 9–3 win Friday afternoon (Jan. 23, 2026) at CGCC.

After a scoreless first, the Cougars' offense erupted in the bottom of the second, sending 11 men to the plate and turning the game into a rout. Chandler-Gilbert piled up seven runs on four hits and a flurry of traffic on the bases, taking advantage of wildness and free passes to build a 7–1 cushion. Trinidad State did scratch across a run in the top half of the inning, but the Cougars immediately answered and never looked back.

Trinidad State showed some fight early, scoring in each of the next two frames to trim the margin to 8–3. The highlight for the Trojans was a two-run homer from J. Claveau, who finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. D. Dekker added an RBI single, accounting for all three Trinidad State runs. Still, the Trojans managed just four hits and struck out 13 times, leaving 12 runners on base.

Chandler-Gilbert's lineup was efficient and opportunistic, scoring nine runs on seven hits while drawing nine walks and leaving no runners on base in the box score. C. Fleck delivered a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. B. Gregory also drove in three (2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a sac fly), while G. Yost went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Z. Perry chipped in an RBI as well, and the Cougars added a run in the fifth to complete the scoring.

On the mound, S. George earned the win (1–0), allowing three runs on four hits over four innings with six strikeouts. J. Harris closed the door with three scoreless innings for the save (1), striking out six and allowing no hits. Trinidad State starter R. Sanchez was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven runs (five earned) in 1.2 innings as the Trojans' staff issued nine walks overall.
