Coyotes win 2 conference games

Chandler-Gilbert Community College erupted for 18 runs on 21 hits to outslug Paradise Valley Community College, 18–9, on Tuesday evening (Feb. 17, 2026) in Chandler.

PVCC struck first and kept pressure on early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding runs in each of the next four frames (1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th) to post nine runs on nine hits. But CGCC's offense steadily built momentum after a quiet second inning, answering with a four-run third and a four-run fourth before breaking the game open with a nine-run fifth to end it.

CGCC's lineup produced extra-base damage throughout. N. Matejko went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a double, while O. Rios delivered a big all-around night at third base, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, including a double. T. Ramirez-F was a catalyst in the middle of the order, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs and both a double and a triple. K. Rader had one of the biggest run-producing performances, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs and a triple, plus a sacrifice. G. Schultz also starred, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs, and a triple, and added a stolen base.

In the circle, CGCC used two pitchers to navigate a high-scoring game. Starter A. Fierro worked three innings, allowing six runs (one earned) on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. N. Gates earned the win in relief (1–3), throwing the final two innings and allowing three runs (one earned) while working around five walks and striking out two. CGCC's defense was shaky at times—charged with six errors—but the offense more than compensated.
