As the Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) women's basketball team gears up for the upcoming season, excitement is in the air. With a blend of returning talent and promising newcomers, the Coyotes are poised to make a significant impact in their conference and aim for a successful campaign.

Under the guidance of Coach Mario Trutanic, Jr., who enters first season at the helm, the Coyotes emphasize a fast-paced, aggressive style of play. Coach Trutanic  has focused on developing a strong team culture centered around hard work, discipline, and teamwork. The coaching staff has also implemented new strategies aimed at improving both offensive and defensive execution, which they believe will be pivotal for success this season.

The Coyotes are fortunate to have several key players returning from last season. Makailyn Horsley, a standout guard who averaged over 7 ppg last season, will be a cornerstone for the team. Her leadership on and off the court will be crucial as the team seeks to build on last season's progress. Additionally, Melanie Ortiz, known for toughness and defense, will provide depth and experience on the perimeter.  Sophomores Kloah Ulberg and Kayden Cosgrove will also  look to make an impact with their toughness and leadership.

This season, CGCC welcomes an exciting group of newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact.  Addyson Horsley, a highly-touted recruit from Bungham HS in Utah, brings her toughness and basketball IQ that will enhance the Coyotes' lineup. The coaching staff is particularly excited about Hannah Sarnowski, whose versatility can contribute to both the offensive and defensive schemes.

The Coyotes have set high expectations for the upcoming season. The primary goal is to compete in the ACCAC and secure a place in the playoffs. The team is focused on improving their overall record and building a strong identity on the court. Coach Trutanic emphasizes the importance of teamwork and resilience, stating, "If we can come together and support each other, we can achieve great things this season."

The Coyotes will face a challenging schedule.   Fans can look forward to home games at the Coyote Center Gymnasium, where the support of the community will be vital. The team encourages all students, alumni, and fans to come out and show their support.

As the season approaches, the Chandler-Gilbert Community College women's basketball team is ready to take the court with determination and enthusiasm. With a strong blend of returning talent and fresh faces, the Coyotes are eager to start their journey and make their mark in the ACCAC.
