Welcome Coach Derrick Johnson to then Family. Coach Derrick Johnson joins the Chandler-Gilbert Community College women’s basketball program with 13 years of experience in coaching and player development across all levels—recreational, club, high school, and collegiate. Originally from Aurora, Illinois—just outside of Chicago—Coach Johnson was a Division I and overseas professional recruit before injuries shifted his path toward coaching and training.
He currently serves as the head girls varsity basketball coach at Scottsdale Christian Academy and is the founder of D22 Academy, an all-girls club basketball program based in Scottsdale Arizona, focused on skill development, mentorship, and building character through the game. Now based in Tempe, Arizona, Coach Johnson is deeply rooted in the basketball community and is driven by a passion to help young athletes grow on and off the court. He is proudly married to his lovely wife, Puja.
