Glendale Community College Triumphs Over Chandler-Gilbert in a Thrilling Five-Set Volleyball Match

In a volleyball showdown on October 17, 2025, Glendale Community College edged out Chandler-Gilbert Community College in a nail-biting five-set match. The game, held at Glendale's home court, saw the hosts secure a 3-2 victory with set scores of 28-26, 25-16, 26-28, 24-26, and 15-11.



The match was a rollercoaster of emotions. Glendale Community College started strong, taking the first two sets with scores of 28-26 and 25-16. However, Chandler-Gilbert fought back, winning the third and fourth sets 28-26 and 26-24, respectively, forcing a decisive fifth set. Glendale ultimately clinched the victory with a 15-11 win in the final set.


For Glendale, Mikayla Shepston was a standout performer, leading her team with 18 kills and contributing significantly to the team's overall attack percentage of .181. Kensie Neville also made a notable impact with a perfect hitting percentage of .375, alongside four service aces. Olivia Moore was instrumental in setting up plays, recording 34 assists.

Chandler-Gilbert's Kennedie Amarillas was a force to be reckoned with, delivering 13 kills and maintaining a hitting percentage of .267. Aubrey Becker also contributed significantly with 12 kills. Grace Johnson was effective from the service line, recording five aces.

- Both teams were evenly matched in service errors, with Glendale committing 11 and Chandler-Gilbert 9.
- Glendale's blocking game was slightly more effective, with 5 solo blocks and 12 block assists, compared to Chandler-Gilbert's 3 solo blocks and 10 block assists.

Glendale Community College's ability to maintain composure and execute under pressure in the final set was crucial to their victory. Despite the loss, Chandler-Gilbert displayed tenacity and skill, pushing the match to the very limit. 

 

The Coyotes continue the push to playoffs with 2 mathces this week.  Wednesday at home against Phoenix College and on the road Friday night at South Mountain.
